Contenidos

Students will be introduced to creative writing techniques and a number of texts illustrating these techniques. The texts read in class will be based on short stories and excerpts from novels. Students will be given four brief creative writing tasks based on the writing techniques they have studied as well as text analysis questions that will be discussed in the forum. Students will interact with the instructor and their peers through the forum.

In each session students will be given:
• An introductory video to each topic.
• Support documents for each topic containing theory and narrative examples.
• A link to a short story and follow up questions to discuss in the general forum.
• Further readings.
• A creative writing task that will be submitted in the individual forum every two sessions.

Metodología

Students are expected to participate actively in the forum discussing the short story assignments which are worth 20% of the final grade. In order to obtain this percentage, a minimum of 80% participation is required.

Students will be expected to submit four pieces of creative writing throughout the course which are worth 80% of the final grade (20% per exercise). Details of each assignment will vary.
 
Assignments must be submitted within the established deadlines.

Focus will be given to creativity and effective use of writing techniques. The lecturers’ comments will not be grammar-based.
